BT1 Across the Alps on a Touring Bike - From Garmisch to Lake Garda

Die Tour

The Via Claudia Augusta, a historic Roman trading route, is now the longest established, and easiest, bicycle tour across the Alps. The full tour begins in Augsburg, Germany and ends in Ostiglia or in Venice, Italy. This condensed version of the tour begins in Garmisch, Germany and ends at the beautiful Lake Garda in Italy. The very first and last kilometers on the tour are not part of the official Via Claudia Augusta route.

The tour covers nearly 380 km. (235 miles) and gains 2,778 m. (9,114 ft.) of elevation over 7 spectacular days of cycling through Germany, Austria, and Italy.

Sicherheitshinweise

The Via Claudia Augusta is a very well signed-out bicycle route. We recommend following signs over the GPS routings provided in this tour. Keep in mind that in many cases, there may be multiple routes to choose from. Always orient yourself to the next destination.
