Weg

Please note the different directions from KM 13.5, depending on whether you are staying at the Isarlodge in Hinterautal or in Scharnitz or Mittenwald.

.00 km – A few steps after the Karwendelhaus TURN LEFT, onto a steep, narrow path in the direction of “Scharnitz – only for pedestrians”, BEAR RIGHT immediately and then hike across the alpine meadow to the St. Wendelin Almen with the small chapel. The trail crosses the road several times.

.4 km - Behind the Wendelinus chapel you meet the wide road again. TURN LEFT and now follow the road, go through the pasture gate and continue on the road.

.1 km - Behind a hairpin bend, a trail crosses the road. Leave the road here, TURN LEFT and follow the narrow trail to shorten a large bend in the road. An easy to walk, shady trail that finally meets the road again a little further down. TURN LEFT at the driveway and walk down the driveway. From here always follow the road and ignore all outgoing paths.

.7 km - they pass the Angeralmen.

.3 km - You pass a deer feeding station. 8 km - You reach a clearing, on the right behind the trees there is a small hut. Here you have completed about half of the hike. The river meadows of the Karwendelbach are a good place for a break.

km - You cross the creek at a scree channel. At the fork in the road, BEAR LEFT in the direction of Scharnitz, steadily downhill.

.5 km - junction to GH Wiesenhof/Isarlodge: If you are staying in Scharnitz or Mittenwald continue STRAIGHT ON. If you are staying at the Isarlodge, TURN LEFT here and follow this path to the road, then LEFT again until you reach the Isarloge. Here are the further directions to Scharnitz:

.5 km - Viewpoint of the Karwendel Gorge. Continue to follow the road down. Ignore all branching paths.

.8 km - At the junction, continue straight on Inrainstrasse. 17.2 km - At the next T-junction, turn right and continue to follow Inrainstrasse.

.7 km - At the T-junction of the main road (Innsbrucker Straße) turn right and follow this for approx. 300m.

km - At the train station, turn right.
