Walk from Strobl to St. Wolfgang via Schwarzensee Lake

Walk the Bürgl Panorama Trail from Strobl along the serene Schwarzensee.
Enjoy a leisurely continental breakfast of locally made cheese, hams, fresh crusty bread, boiled eggs and coffee before setting off on the Bürgl Panorama Trail from Strobl to the serene Schwarzensee.
Ascend on wooden steps and after a steep but short climb, the idyllic lake beckons for a refreshing swim. Walk around the lake then continue on the trail down to St. Wolfgang, where you can enjoy a drink in one of the lovely lake-side beer gardens before returning to Strobl by bus or scenic ferry.

Start todays walk in Strobl, if you stayed in St Wolfgang last night you will need to take the bus or ferry (payable on-site, approx. € 6) to Strobl.
0.0 km - START the walk on the shores of Lake Wolfgang, behind the tourist information centre: With your back to the shore, TURN LEFT and walk along the promenade towards the forest. Cross the footbridges and walk through a small park.
0.2 km - At the end of the park, follow the small gravel path next to the road and CONTINUE shortly afterwards along the sidewalk.
0.3 km - At the next fork in the road BEAR LEFT towards Bad Ischl / St. Wolfgang and follow the road.
0.6 km - Shortly after the small bridge, TURN LEFT and follow the Bürgl Panoramaweg (the panorama trail) along the shores of Lake Wolfgang.
1.8 km - At a small fork in the road, follow the main path STRAIGHT ON.
1.9 km - Shortly afterwards, at the next fork in the road BEAR RIGHT on the Bürgl Panoramaweg.
3.1 km - When you arrive at the street, TURN RIGHT onto the footpath next to the street and follow the Bürgl Panoramaweg.
3.5 km - At the traffic junction carefully CROSS the street and follow the sign towards Schwarzensee.
3.7 km - Shortly after crossing a small bridge with steel railings, TURN LEFT onto a gravel path towards Wirersteig-Schwarzensee.
4.7 km - When you arrive at the road, CROSS it and continue STRAIGHT towards Wirersteig-Schwarzensee.
4.9 km - At a fork in the road, behind the houses TURN RIGHT on to a forest path which steeply ascends the mountain (Almweg to Lake Schwarzensee). Following the red and white markings.
5.5 km - Arrive at a fork in the road at a hut, BEAR RIGHT and shortly afterwards BEAR RIGHT again and follow the signs for Almweg- LAke Schwarzensee and the red and white markings
7.0 km - At the next fork in the road just after a portrait of the Virgin Mary, BEAR LEFT and follow the gravel path towards Lake Schwarzensee.
7.5 km - Once you have reached the road, TURN LEFT and walk along the road.
7.8. km - At the end of the parking lot at Lake Schwarzensee Information Centre TURN RIGHT to continue your hike along the lake to St Wolfgang.
>> SHORTCUT: If you want to skip the hike around the lake, keep walking straight to St Wolfgang. This saves you 3.4 km.
10.9 km - Before the bend in the road: When you arrive at the car park at the inn where the paths cross, continue STRAIGHT on the Salzkammergut BergeSeen Trail in the direction of St. Wolfgang.
13.4 km - At the next fork in the road, BEAR RIGHT towards Holzerbauer / St. Wolfgang
13.7 km - When you arrive at the road, TURN RIGHT towards St. Wolfgang. Shortly afterwards, TURN RIGHT again onto the gravel path towards St. Wolfgang. Now follow the signs in the direction of St. Wolfgang / St. Wolfgang Market / St. Wolfgang Pilgrimage Church.
16.0 km - Once in the village, TURN RIGHT towards the church. BEAR LEFT at the church and BEAR LEFT again at the next opportunity into an alley. Follow the alley to the St. Wolfgang Markt pier.
16.3 km - End of today's stage at the St. Wolfgang Markt shipping pier.
Enjoy a drink in one of the lovely lake-side beer gardens before returning to Strobl or St Gilgen by bus or scenic ferry.

Ausrüstung
We recommend that you wear well-worn hiking shoes with a good profile. In addition, a waterproof rain jacket and rain pants in bad weather and sunscreen and a sun hat in good weather.

Please do not enter the pastures despite the diversion sign and follow the diversion until you are back on the regular path.
