Pöllat Gorge and Marien Bridge
Die Tour
The "Pöllatschlucht" (a wild gorge) is currently closed.
Hiking through the pöllat gorge - marien bridge - village Hohenschwangau
Nice hike passing through the famous „Pöllatschlucht“ (a wilde gorge) and the popular photo spot „Marienbrücke“. Only possible like this in summer time, as the gorge always closes for winter and „Marienbrücke“ is sometimes closed due to snow or ice.

Weg
From Hohenschwangau follow the signs to "Pöllatschlucht" (a wild gorge). It's about 400m long and has many small and large waterfalls. King Ludwig was particularly fascinated with this place because of the impressive power of nature it offers. The hiking trail leads past rugged cliffs and roaring water, while iron and stone stairs ensure that the path is well maintained. The variety of rocks in the Gorge is characterized by limestone, main dolomite and coloured marble, among others. One will experience a breathtaking view of the Neuschwanstein Castle and the Pöllat waterfall with its 30m drop from the "Marienbrücke" (bridge). From there, follow the Hohenschwangau signs back to the starting point.
