Die Tour

We want to share our passion with you. With our ORTOVOX tours we want to make ski touring even more enjoyable.

The Skitour on the Hinteres Sonnwendjoch comes from ORTOVOX team-member Michael Sieber.

Each tour is a unique experience. No matter whether you go BACKCOUNTRY SKIING or free riding, you will never be fully able to eliminate the risk of avalanches. CONSIDERED BEHAVIOR alone will give you years of pleasure to come in your sport. With the ORTOVOX Safety Academy Lab we provide you with an online tool to enhance your avalanche knowledge. ORTOVOX does not incur liability for the proposed tours due to the continually changing conditions of nature.

The ORTOVOX team wishes you a great tour!

Our tour takes place in the impressive landscape of Tyrol and Upper Bavaria.

Wegbeschreibung

Weg

Our tour starts at parking space Ackneralm in Wacht/Landl. From there you take the path till the junction towards Wildenkaralm. The path rolls through the forest alongside a rock face up till a small plateau underneath the Wildenkaralm.

The normal path runs by the Wildenkaralm through the “Schnittlauchgraben” till the summit. We decided, however, to take the more demanding route alongside the ridge towards Frommalm.

Above the Fommalm we walk along the ridge till the junction towards the summit.

After another half an hour we reach the summit in order to have a snack and fill up our energies for the demanding descent.

The descent we take is only apt for very experienced and high-level skiers with a lot of experience in steep terrain. The conditions have to be perfectly studied and analyzed in order to minimize the risk. We were accompanied by a very experienced mountain guide who helped us analyze the conditions.

If the conditions and your skill level are suitable for a safe descent, please reconsider your energy before you start the up to 55° steep descent.

As an easier alternative we propose you take the descent via the Schnittlauchgraben. Via this route you reach your starting point.

Via the 55° steep descent on the north col you will eventually reach the Grundalm. From there you take a path via Kloo-Ascher Alm to the Zipfelwirt, where you should park a second car in order to be able to transfer back to your starting point.
