There are two options for the route to the Westfalenhaus, either climbing first and traversing high along a valley, or staying along the valley floor along a pleasant stream, with a steep ascent on the last push to the hut. For the second option, continue down the valley, looking for a route up to the right that travels more or less under the material lift for the Westfalenhaus. This is a steep uphill push until reaching the hanging valley above.

This route description here is for the upper route. From Gasthof Lüsens, stay on the west side of the creek and head southwest, climbing steadily until rounding the corner into the Längen Valley. Eventually, the elevation gain levels off and you will enjoy a pleasant traverse, with a few ups and downs, and spectacular views along the way.

The Westfalenhaus lies toward the back of this valley.
