Return to civilization the same way you came the day before. After crossing back over the stream (Schallerbach), go straight instead of turning right at Hotel Weisses Lamm. At the church, take the right fork down to the valley into See.
Upon arriving in See, turn left onto the main road, followed by the first right turn to cross the bridge directly across from Mallaun Hotel Erlebnis (almost at the edge of town). Follow this across a bridge and as it curves to the right. Then take the left fork. At Hotel Garni Bergwelt, the Zentralalpenweg leaves the road to the left.
Follow this route, as it traverses just above the valley floor, passes above Sesslebene, and finally comes to Kappl. In Kappl, the route begins to climb as it crosses under the gondola, and eventually climbs steeply along the stream (Sessladbach). Continue following the Zentralalpenweg, more or less along the water course, until arriving at the Niederelbehut.
Alternate 1: Take the Medrigalm Gondola down to the valley, bypassing 747 m. (2,451 ft.) of descent. Upon arriving in the valley, turn left on the main road. Turn right at Mallaun Hotel Erlebnis and pick up the hiking route described above.
Alternate 2: Take a bus through the valley. If you hiked down, pick up the bus at the See I.P. Elis Bus Stop where you were dropped off. If you took the gondola down, the the See I.P. Bergbahnen Bus Stop is right where you exit the gondola. Take the bus either to the gondola stop in Kappl (if you would like to use Alternate 3), or to get back on the hiking route, leave the bus at the Kappl Ulmich Brücke stop.

Cross the nearby bridge, and head Northeast, then taking the left turn toward two chapels: the Heiligkreuzkappelle and the Ruhesteinkappelle. Then follow the signs to the Untere Sessladalm, and finally to the Niederelbe Hut. Altogether, this approach will take 2 to 3 hours, and will gain 1,100 m. (3,609 ft.). Buses leave approximately every hour and cost less then 4€ per person (not included, pay the bus driver cash as you board).
Alternate 3: Take the Diasbahn gondola from Kappl up toward your hut. If you hiked to Kappl, you will find yourself above the gondola station, and will want to start making your way downhill through town once you see the gondola. If you took the bus through the valley, just leave the bus at the Kappl Bergbahnen Bus Stop. Upon arriving at the top, make your way uphill to the restaurant and play area, and then follow the signs to the Niederelbe Hut.
To reach the Sunny Mountain Almstüberl for the culinary offering, take a right turn at your second trail junction after leaving the restaurant and play area. This is before you reach the back of the valley you are traversing. You will see the Almstüberl up on the hill above you, and the route should be fairly clear in good visibility.
Note: Alternatives 1, 2 & 3 can be combined, making the day a total of only 3 km. (2 miles) and 533 m. (1,749 ft.) of elevation gain.
