Jethro Tull

Seit ihrem Debüt im Londoner Marquee Club im Februar 1968 gehört diese britische Ausnahmeerscheinung zu den prägenden Kräften des Progressive Rock. Was als Überraschungserfolg auf kleinen Bluesbühnen begann, wuchs rasant zu einer internationalen Erfolgsgeschichte: Schon beim 68er Sunbury Jazz and Blues Festival wurden Jethro Tull zum heimlichen Höhepunkt des Sommers, und kaum ein Jahr später stand die Band mit dem Album "This Was" mitten im Rampenlicht. Es folgte ein Weg, der bis heute kaum seinesgleichen findet.

Im Zentrum dieser Reise steht der Mann mit der Querflöte, deren markanter Ton längst zum weltbekannten Erkennungszeichen wurde. Über die Jahrzehnte hinweg formte er den Sound einer Gruppe, die sich immer wieder neu erfand und doch unverwechselbar blieb. Mehr als 30 Musiker haben in all den Jahren Station gemacht, einige nur kurz, andere über weite Strecken, doch die kreative Achse blieb konstant: die Mischung aus Rock, Folk, barocker Eleganz und diesem unnachahmlichen Flötenangriff, der einst die Regeln des Genres neu schrieb.

Tatsächlich ruht sich diese Legende nicht auf früheren Triumphen aus. Mit über 50 Konzerten jährlich, neuen Tourideen und einer bemerkenswerten Serie aktueller Veröffentlichungen bleibt das Projekt bis heute quicklebendig. Nach "The Zealot Gene" (2022) und "RökFlöte" (2023) folgte 2025 das gefeierte "Curious Ruminant", das nahtlos an die stilistische Kühnheit der frühen Jahre anknüpft und zeigt, wie viel kreative Energie nach fast sechs Jahrzehnten noch in diesem Namen steckt.

Die aktuelle Tour spannt den Bogen einmal quer durch den gesamten Katalog von 1968 bis heute. Begleitet wird Ian Anderson dabei von seinen langjährigen Mitstreitern David Goodier (Bass), John O'Hara (Keyboards), Scott Hammond (Drums) sowie dem neuen Gitarristen Jack Clark. Dazu kommt eine eindrucksvolle Videoproduktion, die den musikalischen Trip durch mehr als fünfzig Jahre Rockgeschichte visuell erweitert.

What followed was a journey that is still unparalleled today.

At the center of this journey is the man with the flute, whose distinctive tone has long since become a world-famous trademark. Over the decades, he shaped the sound of a group that constantly reinvented itself and yet remained unmistakable. More than 30 musicians have made stops over the years, some only briefly, others for long stretches, but the creative axis has remained constant: the mixture of rock, folk, baroque elegance and that inimitable flute attack that once rewrote the rules of the genre.

In fact, this legend is not resting on its laurels. With over 50 concerts a year, new tour ideas and a remarkable series of recent releases, the project remains alive and kicking today. 'The Zealot Gene' (2022) and 'RökFlöte' (2023) were followed in 2025 by the acclaimed 'Curious Ruminant', which seamlessly continues the stylistic boldness of the early years and shows just how much creative energy is still in the name after almost six decades.

The current tour spans the entire catalog from 1968 to the present day. Ian Anderson will be accompanied by his long-time collaborators David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Scott Hammond (drums) and new guitarist Jack Clark. In addition, there is an impressive video production that visually expands the musical trip through more than fifty years of rock history.
