Wegbeschreibung

Start

Achensee

Ziel

Innsbruck Innbrücke (Bridge)

Weg

Enjoy the scenic ride on a good path along the Achensee. Shortly after the lake, the trickiest descent of the entire tour drops down into the Inn Valley. The descent is only tricky, because it is on gravel and is relatively steep (for a touring bicycle). Anybody with braking experience should not have an issue here, and will likely thoroughly enjoy this descent. Just take it slowly and stay in control.

You will reach the Inn River at Wiesing, and then follow the bike trail past Jenbach. If you are interested in seeing a deep and magnificent gorge, the Wolfsklamm, as a side excursion, leave the route at Stans for the Saint Gergenberg monastery (there is a minimal entrance fee).

From Stans continue along the Inn River, passing a swimming opportunity in a lake near Terfens. If you really love Swarovski Crystal, you can pay (a lot) to gain entrance to their Crystal World in Wattens. This is really only worth it if you love Swarovski Crystal.

Continue past Hall in Tirol, finally arriving in Innsbruck. Do not cross the river until arriving at the Innbrücke (bridge), which leads straight to the historic center of town. This stage ends at the Innbrücke. Please refer to your Personal eGuidebook for accommodation information.

Weitere Informationen

It is characteristic in Austria for the trails to be less groomed than in Germany or Italy. On this short portion of the tour, you will be faced with some steeper grades on gravel than what you will find elsewhere on the tour.

If you would like to skip any portion of cycling on this day, we recommend boarding the train in Jenbach and taking it to Innsbruck (this bypasses the last stretch of the day). Please be sure to purchase a ticket for your bicycles, and be sure to board a car on the train approved for bicycles (marked with a picture of the bicycle on the train).
