Weg

Continue South from Bad Tölz, staying more or less along the river, passing through Lenggries.

After Lenggries, the next destination is the Sylvensteinspeicher, a rather large man-made lake. There is a short climb just before the lake, followed by a bicycle tunnel, from which you emerge with beautiful views of the lake. The main route crosses the dam (right), follows the main road along the lake, and then crosses a bridge to the small village of Fall. We recommend stopping at Jäger von Fall for a bite to eat if you are hungry.

At Fall, the Munich Venice route splits from the Isar Bicycle Route, which you had been following up until now. Keep your eyes open for a left turn in Fall. The rolling route then continues around the lake with plenty of ascents and descents, and eventually leads to some narrower trails before it ascends to and crosses the main road. As an alternative, you can skip over much of the distance by taking the road east from the tunnel (left) until it meets up with the main route where it crosses the road. This alternative may be easier but is much less spectacular, and travels on the road.

After returning to the path along the road, the route follows some gravel trails that depart and return to the road that are rather steep and loose. The sections are short enough to walk without problem. Or there is the option to stay on the road.

Follow the route across the border in Austria to Achenkirch, and then finally to the Achensee (lake). This stage ends at the very northern tip of the Achensee Lake, in front of Hotel Fischerwirt. Please refer to your Personal eGuidebook for information about your specific accommodation.

Weitere Informationen

It is characteristic in Austria for the trails to be less groomed than in Germany or Italy. On this short portion of the tour, you will be faced with some steeper grades on gravel than what you will find elsewhere on the tour.
